Server (IO) error

I just installed Core and I'm just starting to figure it out.

After installation and everything ok

I can't upload files having this message "Server (IO) error"

on Overview it says "Connection to database server is working"

I'm using MySQL 5.0.32

could you please give me some insight on what am I doing wrong?
